*Pre-Trip Plan*

Right around June 10th I hope to drive from the Chicagoland area up to Lake Itasca Minnesota. From there I will put my kayak into the water and begin to paddle as far as I can. I will repeat this process for about 50 days until I reach the Gulf of Mexico. I am going to carry my own food and water, hoping to restock every couple of days at local towns along the river.  I am going to take photos, videos, and blog during the journey to keep everyone in the loop. I also plan on stopping at some kayaking shops and libraries along the way to give presentations on the ecology, sociology, and hydrology that I encounter; along with the gear I use in and out of the water.
