An ever growing list of big hearted folks that in some way have made my trip a little easier. I will write as many as I can, but know that many more exist. |

Put me and the support crew up for a night. They fed, washed, and entertained us, the best company an adventurer could ask for. |

On the eastern edge of the fourth largest lake in Minnesota, Lake Winnibigoshish, this lodge offers all of the cozy comforts a city paddler like myself could need. After the most dangerous stretch of my paddle, they gave me coffee, breakfast, and some sponsorship money to keep me fed on the river. If you are want to get away, this is the place to go. www.highbanks.com. |

After several passes by their fish fry, carrying equipment, I was invited to join and eat my fill. My first fish from the river and a home cooked meal that hit the spot. |

St. Columbekille's Catholic Parish |
This church family opened the doors to their rectory and refrigerator to nourish our body and souls. I am most thankful for this slice of heaven in Debuque. |

The right man in the right place: Kevin, an experienced kayaker and the backbone of Midwest Sea Kayaking and Touring Co. welcomed us into his small town with a motel and food. He took me along on a day tour and talked about the progress that he has been making in his collaboration with various local groups to make his section of the river more paddler friendly. All around a active guy who was as welcoming as he was knowledgeable. |
